Friday, November 20th, 2009Shahin Sayadi on Return Ticket: Halifax – Abadan – Halifax
Shahin Sayadi is the creator and director of Return Ticket: Halifax – Abadan – Halifax, opening this weekend at the Nepturn Studio Theatre. In Return Ticket, Sayadi looks at war from the citizen’s perspective. In 2008, Sayadi travelled to his hometown of Abadan, Iran, near the Iran-Iraq border. The play is based on his experience reconnecting with the people and memories from his youth, including the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq war.
In this interview with Erica Butler of CKDU News, Sayadi talks about the genesis for the play, and the unique use of technology to portray the reality of communications in a family that spans from Canada to Iran.
Return Ticket: Halifax – Abadan – Halifax opens Saturday, November 21 at the Neptune Studio Theatre. For more information, go to: http://www.onelighttheatre.com/return.html
